Athens' Keathley named Large School Offensive Player of the Year.

Athens' Keathley named Large School Offensive Player of the YearATHENS — Athens senior Kalen Keathley was named the NTL Large School "Offensive Player of the Year" in recent voting by the league's coaches, and Keathley and Athens junior Zach Jayne were first-team all-star selections on both offense and defense.

Athens sophomore Kaden Rude was a first-team defensive selection at free safety and senior Shane Colegrove was a first-team offensive selection at kicker.

Senior Avery Chandler was a second-team selection at offensive tackle, while seniors Luke Newman and Jared Stanfield were second-team picks at defensive end, and senior Peyton Lewis earned a second-team nod at strong safety.

Wellsboro junior Quinn Henry was voted the NTL Large School "Player of the Year," while teammate Parker Jones, a senior, was named "Defensive Player of the Year."

Wellsboro junior Collin Pietropola and North Penn-Mansfield senior Shane Kelly shared "Lineman of the Year" honors.

Tim Birney

Tim Birney is the founder / owner of River Road Media Group. He was born and raised in the Valley, graduating from Waverly High School in 1984.

Birney earned an Associate's Degree in Journalism from SUNY Morrisville in 1986 and a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism / Public Relations from Utica College of Syracuse University in 1988. He began his newspaper career at The Daily Review in Towanda in 1989, before moving on to The Evening Times in 1995. He spent more than 10 years at the Times, the last four as Managing Editor.
